Show translation
The children run happily through the park.
Etymology
From Latin *currere* ("to run, to hurry"). The same root gives English "current," "course," "courier," and "occur" — all sharing the idea of something moving forward.
Cultural note
Beyond physical running, *correr* appears in many vivid Spanish expressions: *correr la voz* means "to spread the word," *correr el riesgo* means "to run the risk," and *a todo correr* means "at full speed." In Spain, you might also hear *correr* used for drawing curtains (*correr las cortinas*). The word is genuinely universal across all Spanish-speaking regions.
