In Korean work and study culture, taking a proper break (쉬는 시간, "rest time") is considered important, and asking someone "좀 쉬세요" (Please rest a bit) is a warm, caring expression. On July 20th, many Koreans are in the thick of summer heat (복중, the hottest period), making 쉬다 especially timely — "쉬어 가세요" is a common phrase of hospitality, inviting someone to stop and rest awhile.
